ADHD testing in Manhattan
Testing that goes beyond a checklist: attention, executive functioning, learning and mood, evaluated together by a psychologist who has published clinical research on ADHD.
Trouble focusing can come from ADHD, but also from anxiety, a learning disability, sleep problems or a mismatch between a child's abilities and their classroom. A comprehensive evaluation tells these apart, which matters, because the right help depends on the real cause.
Research-based care
Dr. Tutty co-authored a randomized controlled trial with pediatrician Harlan Gephart, MD, published in the Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (2003), on improving behavioral and social skills in children newly diagnosed with ADHD in a pediatric setting. The study tested adding a behavioral and social-skills program to standard pediatric care. That focus on what helps beyond medication shapes the practical recommendations in every report.
What ADHD testing covers
- Sustained, divided and selective attention (visual and auditory)
- Executive functioning: planning, organization, working memory, flexibility
- Processing speed and memory
- Academic skills, to rule out or identify a learning disability
- Mood and anxiety, which often look like inattention
- Behavior at home and at school, including teacher input
What you'll leave with
A clear answer about whether ADHD is present, what else may be contributing, and a written plan: classroom accommodations, home strategies, and guidance for your child's pediatrician or therapist.
