Referring a child for evaluation

When a patient's attention, learning, behavior or development raises questions a brief screen can't answer, we provide a full neuropsychological picture and a plan you can act on.

When to refer

  • Positive or unclear autism or ADHD screening
  • Suspected learning disability or dyslexia
  • A child who is struggling at school despite apparent ability (possible 2E)
  • Attention problems with possible anxiety, mood or sleep contributors
  • Families needing documentation for 504 plans or IEPs
  • Questions about treatment response or what to add beyond medication

What you receive

A comprehensive written report covering cognitive ability, academics, attention, memory, executive functioning and social-emotional functioning, with specific recommendations for the family, the school and treating clinicians. Findings are explained to the family in a feedback session.

A pediatric research background

Dr. Tutty's ADHD research was done in a pediatric setting, with pediatrician Harlan Gephart, MD, and published in the Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. His depression research with Greg Simon, MD, published in JAMA, focused on primary care patients. He understands how primary care works and writes reports to fit it.

How to refer

Have the family call 332-232-3696 or request a consultation online. Physicians are welcome to call to discuss a patient. Ages 5 to 22, in person on Lexington Avenue, with feedback in person or by video. Needs-based scholarships are available.
